It is nor wonder out tweens and teens love this drink. It is heavily advertised all over social media and promoted at most sporting events and grocery stores. It is cool and will make you perform faster and better – is what the influencers are telling our children. But what is really in this hydration drink. Lets take a look:
Water – we love water so this is fine.
Coconut Water from Concentrate – we don’t love concentrate but it is still full of minerals and vitamins.
Citric Acid- a preservative and flavor enhancer. It is made from fungus which is responsible for full body inflammation. So a NO to this ingredient.
Sucralose – a fake sugar responsible for full body inflammation. So this is a NO ingredient
Natural Flavors- generally made from chemical solvents. Also a preservative which many contain cancer causing agents. So definetely a NO here.
Although Prime hydration does not contain caffeine like Prime Drink it is still not good for your child to consume. Stick to a banana and filtered water with a pinch of celtic sea salt or a pack of unflavored LMNT electrocytes or a good flavored brand is FlavCity electrolyte packs.
Lets keep our children safe and hydrated. Less ingredients is more!
